Welcome!

Thank you for being flexible during this. This is unusual and strange time for all of us. We are a team and don't be afraid to come to me if you are at your wits end, confused, have a question about the content, or brainstorm ideas together for managing this time with your student. If you click on the contact info button on my home page, there are different ways to reach me.

Growth Mindset Phrases to Help Your Student Work Through Productive Struggle

  • I appreciate that you keep trying and aren't giving up!

  • Try two different ways and then we can reach out to your teacher

  • Don't be afraid to make a mistake. You are learning!

  • You can't do this...yet!

  • You are growing your brain!

Some Ideas to Help With Success

  • set a timer for 10 minutes of working and then take a brain break (GoNoodle has activities, a quick walk, a snack, quick dance party)

  • Students are used to bouncing ideas off each other. If the student seems stuck, see if they can brainstorm with a family member

  • Establish a schedule that works for your family

  • Deep breathing

Attendance

I will be taking attendance twice a day based off the online activity that day. If your student joined a zoom, got in contact with me in some format, interacted with Buzz or another platform then I will count them present for that day.

Grades

If we have to go remote, your student will receive grades a little differently. Our assignments will align with what we would be doing in person as well as the grade.  Participation will be based off of Zoom, Buzz, and Seesaw. Grades will come from the assignments on Buzz and what I push out. For grades that receive a score, this is how we mark them.

4 - 90-100%

3 - 75-89%

2- 60-74%

1- 50% and below

0 - no schore

Online Expectations

I understand that everyone's home life looks different during this time. Please let me know if the schedule or work load is not working for your family and I will accommodate as much as I can. With that said, I will have a schedule that allows for Zoom class meetings, direct instruction, work time, office hours and off computer work time. My due dates for assignments will be for the week to allow for different schedules. My expectation is to have your student participate in class meetings and complete the assign work that aligns with what we would be doing in person.

During Zoom Expectations for Your Kiddo

  • Please have mic off when you enter the zoom room

  • Raise your hand when you have something to share

  • Find a safe spot for your iPad and yourself

  • Advocate for yourself - if you need help, don't be afraid to ask :)
